When your 2024 Kia Telluride displays the P0305 code, the engine control module has detected repeated misfires in cylinder 5. The 2024 Telluride continues with the 3.8L Lambda II V6 producing 291 horsepower. With six cylinders numbered 1-6, P0305 is a legitimate diagnostic code.
2024 Telluride Powertrain
The 2024 Telluride maintains the proven 3.8L V6 paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission. This naturally aspirated engine continues as the only powertrain option. A hybrid variant has not yet been introduced to the Telluride lineup.
Cylinder 5 Location
On the 3.8L V6, cylinder 5 is positioned on the rear bank (toward the firewall) in the center position. The transverse mounting makes this cylinder somewhat challenging to access directly.
Common Causes
On a newer 2024 model, manufacturing defects or loose connections from assembly are more likely causes than wear-related issues. Ignition coil failure can occur. Check for TSBs addressing known issues. Spark plug problems are less likely unless there's a defect.
Diagnostic Process
Read all codes and freeze frame data. Check for Kia TSBs for the 2024 Telluride. Verify ignition system connections. Inspect cylinder 5's spark plug and ignition coil. A 2024 model should be under full warranty coverage.
