When your 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee displays the P0305 code, the engine control module has detected repeated misfires in cylinder 5. The 2024 Grand Cherokee offers multiple engine options including V6 and V8 configurations where P0305 is valid, and the 4xe plug-in hybrid where it's anomalous.
2024 Grand Cherokee Engine Options
The WL-generation 2024 Grand Cherokee offers the 3.6L Pentastar V6 (293 hp), 5.7L Hemi V8 (357 hp), and 4xe plug-in hybrid (375 hp using a 2.0L turbo four-cylinder). The V6 and V8 have cylinder 5—the 4xe does not.
V6/V8 Diagnosis
On the 3.6L V6, cylinder 5 is on the driver side bank toward the rear. On the 5.7L V8, cylinder 5 is on the driver side (left bank) at the front. Standard misfire causes include spark plug wear, ignition coil failure, and fuel injector issues.
4xe Plug-In Hybrid
If your Grand Cherokee is the 4xe, P0305 is anomalous—the turbocharged four-cylinder has only cylinders 1-4. Investigate diagnostic errors.
Diagnostic Approach
Identify your engine. On V6/V8 models, diagnose cylinder 5 using standard procedures. On 4xe, check for ECM issues.
