When your 2019 Jeep Cherokee displays the P0305 code, the diagnostic approach depends on your engine configuration. The refreshed 2019 Cherokee offers four-cylinder and V6 options. P0305 is valid on the 3.2L V6 but anomalous on the 2.4L or 2.0L turbo four-cylinders.
2019 Cherokee Engine Options
The 2019 Cherokee (refreshed styling) offered the 2.4L Tigershark I-4 (180 hp), 2.0L turbocharged I-4 (270 hp), and 3.2L Pentastar V6 (271 hp). Only the V6 has cylinders numbered through 6.
V6 Cylinder 5 Location
On the 3.2L Pentastar V6, cylinder 5 is on the driver side bank toward the rear. At 2019 mileage levels, spark plug wear may be approaching if not previously serviced.
Four-Cylinder Models
If your Cherokee has either four-cylinder engine, P0305 is anomalous. These engines have only cylinders 1-4. Investigate ECM issues and battery condition.
Diagnostic Steps
Identify your engine first. On V6, check spark plugs, ignition coils, and fuel injectors at cylinder 5. On four-cylinder, investigate diagnostic system errors.
