What Is P0131 on Your 2024 Kia K5?
The P0131 code on your 2024 K5 indicates the Bank 1 Sensor 1 upstream O2 sensor is reading below normal voltage. The 2024 K5 (DL3) is available with the Smartstream G1.6 T-GDI 1.6L turbocharged inline-four or the Smartstream G2.5 T-GDI 2.5L turbo (GT model). Both are single-bank GDI engines. Sensor 1 is the upstream O2 sensor before the catalytic converter.
As GDI engines, both produce exhaust with higher carbon particulate content compared to MPI engines. The sensor should oscillate between 0.1V and 0.9V during closed-loop operation. A persistent signal below 0.2V triggers P0131.

The turbocharger housing and downpipe are significant heat sources in the compact K5 engine bay. Even a slight harness misrouting can put wiring in contact with heat-radiating surfaces.
3. Turbo Exhaust Leak
The gasket at the turbo-to-downpipe connection or the downpipe-to-catalytic converter joint may not have been properly sealed during assembly. A leak at either point introduces ambient air before the sensor, causing persistent lean readings.
