Visible oil stains on the condenser can indicate leak points, as refrigerant oil escapes with the refrigerant. UV dye traces may be visible under UV light.
Diagnostic Process

UV dye testing is highly effective - dye injected into the system appears as bright traces under UV light at leak locations.
