When your 2022 Jeep Wrangler's heated seat switch doesn't light up, you can't easily tell if the heater is activated or what level it's set to. This indication problem may or may not mean the heater itself doesn't work.
Switch Light vs. Heater Function
The switch backlight/indicator and the heater circuit can be separate. It's possible for the heater to work even with a dead switch light, or vice versa. A switch that doesn't illuminate could mean: just the bulb/LED is burned out, the switch has no power at all, or the entire switch assembly has failed.
Testing Heater Operation
To determine if the heater works despite no switch light: Press the switch and wait several minutes for the seat to warm. Note if you feel any heat at all. If the seat warms but the light doesn't work, you only have an indication problem. If neither works, the switch or its power supply has failed.
Common Causes of No Switch Light
Switch illumination fails due to: burned-out LED or bulb in the switch, no power to the switch circuit (check fuse), failed switch assembly, dimmer setting too low affecting switch lighting, or instrument panel dimming affecting the switch.
Diagnostic Steps
Check the heated seat fuse first. Verify instrument panel/switch dimming isn't set too low. Try the heater function to see if it works without the light. Compare to the passenger side switch if applicable. Check for any related warning lights.
Repair Options
Fuse replacement if the fuse is blown. Switch replacement if the LED is burned out or the switch is failed. Dimmer adjustment if that's affecting visibility. Wiring repair if the switch isn't receiving power. Some switches can be disassembled to replace just the bulb/LED.
